Human-Computer Interaction
Human–computer interaction is the study of interaction between people (users) and computers. It is often regarded as the intersection of computer science, behavioral sciences, design and several other fields of study.The following definition is given by the Association for Computing Machinery:
- "Human-computer interaction is a discipline concerned with the design, evaluation and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use and with the study of major phenomena surrounding them."
Current Projects
Recent research projects include:
- Text Entry on touchscreen devices;
- Visualization of user behaviour on the Web
- Visualization of students' behaviour during on-line tests
Past Research
The main topics of our past research have been 3D metaphores for the remote control of so called Smart Home systems, Ambient Intelligence for cultural heritage, empyrical methods for the definition of menu clustering and interfaces for automotive systems. In particular, in the latter topic, the activity has focused on the definition of a multimodal interface, capable of improving the exploitation of sensorial channels alternative to sight to minimize the visual workload of the driver. The fulcrum of the proposal is an innovative interactive device which allows the driver to manage most of the functionalities of the data transmission system.
